(Printing House and Hudson Yards have outdoor pools- in the summer that is great. THE WORST: Bryant Park, Wall Street, Bloomfield Pl, Brooklyn Heights Soho, Flatiron, West Village, Bond St, Williamsburg Locals: depends on the neighborhood, Soho you’ll find some models and the fashion type, Wall street has lots of Finance bros, Times Square? lost tourists and non-local, locals.Īwol gym goers: They are so cool and certain in themselves they don’t need to fit in or entertain a gym persona, they just go workout. Each club has a mix of equinox elites, locals, and awol gym goers.Įquinox elites: Wear coordinated outfits almost always black/grey/white, prefer kettlebell routines, and moderate weights to stay fit-toned over heavy weights. The locations are very well-curated in NYC to embody features of the neighborhoods they are in. Trainers and staff have always been super nice and welcoming, as they should be considering trainers are looking for clients and the staff is cultivating a welcoming lux environment. I don’t particularly like group fitness but I started taking random classes to get more out of my membership and enjoy them a lot now.ģ main tiers of memberships available to youĭestination (access to all locations in the world), All Access (select locations), Single Club ![]() If you are interested in group fitness there are tons of different yoga classes, strength, pilates, group runs, cycling, boxing/kickboxing, swimming, dance/ballet, recovery. I have been to a few lifetimes in the city, they really are not as clean in the locker rooms, equipment-wise they’re even, price wise lifetime wins but equinox is noticeably a more lux experience. If you are afraid of such an environment it may not be for you, but I have never understood this as I just go with headphones on and can work out without much mind to anything going on around me. The people who attend the club often are pretentious, some more warranted than others. It is a luxury experience but not so luxurious that you are “above” the man you are paying. You won’t get unlimited guest passes, you can’t sneak in your friends, and corporate is not easy to deal with. By that I mean it is a large corporation, embodying the capitalist greed of most large corporations.
